Aloha, council members,
I apologize for not being able to make the meeting in person today due to work conflict.
I ask that you please continue to support the GMO protections our county has previously voted in favor of and
asked the State to acknowledge.
The people of this island don't want GMO coffee, taro, or any other GMO crop, nor do we need it for
sustainable agriculture. In fact, the opposite is true: people want to know that products from Hawai'I are the
most natural possible.
I hope this council has decided to repeal a recent court ruling that overturned the peoples' GMO Ordinance 13-
121, which protected Hawaii Island from any new propagation of genetically engineered seed or open air
testing, keeping out GMO crops that are breed to require huge amounts of killing chemicals.
I look forward to your reply with news that our council has taken the leadership role they were entrusted to
carry.
Mahalo nui,
