Aloha Chair, Vice Chair and Council members,
Thank you for having us here today and for showing your support of GMAC and our
residents in the form of this resolution.
For the past five months your GMAC and others have worked long and hard in producing
HB1041 and several other measures. They traveled around the State and gathered support
from the other Counties while meeting with many legislatures at the Capitol.
HB1041 was recently heard in the House water and land committee and passed with
tremendous support from hundreds of individuals and numerous organizations from
around the State. HB1041 left the WTL committee with full support and with minor
amendments that addressed concerns by DLNR and others.
HB1041 passed to the Judiciary committee and under its Chair, Karl Rhoads he refused to
have HB1041 heard in his committee. It is very unfortunate because he did not even give us
the opportunity to discuss with him H131041. It appears that he had a predetermined
conclusion about HB1041.
Mahalo,
Tony Sylvester, GMAC district 3
