RESOLUTION NO. 95 i5
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE CRUISE PARADISE 2015.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is coordinating an event with
Hawaii Classic Car Cruisers where car enthusiasts from the Big Island, neighbor islands, and
from across the United States will participate in a 10 -day car event that runs from June 25, 2015
through July 5, 2015; and
WHEREAS, held once every three years, Hawaii Classic Car Cruisers has chosen the
Big Island of Hawaii for Cruise Paradise 2015 for its scenic beauty and great roads; and
WHEREAS, participants will ship their four -wheeled treasures from across the state and
the mainland to partake in a multitude of events and car shows spread around the island where
driving is the central theme; and
WHEREAS, during the length of the event, more than 300 participants from the
mainland and Hawaii are expected to travel a combined total of about 90,000 miles and use
9,000 gallons of gasoline; and
WHEREAS, participants visit various towns, restaurants, shops and parks across the
island, stimulating the economy; and
WHEREAS, Cruise Paradise 2015 is a free, fun, and family-oriented event that is open
to the public; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to assist with festivity costs associated with the event;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
