The State Department of Land and Natural Resources is providing federally derived funds to the Department of Parks and Recreation to construct a paved multi-purpose path along Hilo Bayfront. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to add the project titled "Hilo Bayfront Trails" and to appropriate $345,743 to the Capital Budget for this project. The Department of Parks and Recreation requests that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee, and be placed on the March 18, 2015 Council Agenda in order to expedite this project. The one miles long trail will path through three County Parks: Mooheau Park, Hilo Bayfront Park and Hilo Bayfront Soccer Fields. The department requests that this bill be waived from Finance Committee and proceed directly for Council's review to help expedite this project.
