STATE OF HAWAII 103 1s RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE HAWAII ISLAND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai'i County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawai'i County Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit- making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax -exemption from the Internal Revenue Code; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Economic Development Board (HIEDB), qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above; and WHEREAS, the Hawai'i County Police Department wishes to provide $150,000 to the HIEDB; and WHEREAS, the funds will be used to supplement the construction of a police memorial for fallen officers at a site located at the Hilo police station; and BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai'i County Code, the Hawai'i County Police Department is authorized to provide funds of $150,000 to the HIEDB to supplement the construction of a police memorial as indicated above. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, and the Hawaii County Police Department.
