RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE DIVINE MERCY
FAMILY FOUNDATION TO ESTABLISH A GONGFUBALL SPORTS CLUB IN PUNA.
WHEREAS, the Divine Mercy Family Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
based in Hilo; and
WHEREAS, Gongfuball is a new sport, developed by Steve Martin of Kurtistown,
which combines elements of "capture the flag," Ultimate Frisbee, tag football, and soccer; and
WHEREAS, Gongfuball promotes confidence, positive health and wellness, teamwork
and leadership skills; and
WHEREAS, the Divine Mercy Family Foundation will provide funding for supplies,
equipment, promotional materials, and instructor fees for the establishment of a Gongfuball
sports club in Puna in a partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Divine Mercy Family
Foundation for the establishment of a Gongfuball sports club in Puna; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
