A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KAILAPA
COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR BUILDING SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS TO
CONSTRUCT A COMMUNITY PAVILION.
WHEREAS, the Kailapa Community Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that represents a collaborative effort to serve the needs of the greater community of Kawaihae, as
well as to support the physical, mental, and spiritual health and well-being of its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Kailapa Community Association is requesting funds to build a
community pavilion that would be used as a resource center and would also be available for
meetings, family gatherings, after-school programs, educational workshops, and recreational
events; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed to purchase building supplies and materials to construct a
community pavilion, such as wood, nails, roofing, windows, doors, hardware, bathroom fixtures,
hollow tile, mortar, drywall, rebar, cement, electrical wiring, hardware, etc.; and
WHEREAS, this pavilion will be the first multi -use building for the Kawaihae area and
will be available to serve the entire community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Kailapa Community
Association for building supplies and materials to construct a community pavilion; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
