My message to the Committee: Aloha Chair Wille and AWES Committee
Members.
Mahalo for the opportunity!
I support Bill 24 regulating business that capture and sell I lawan's
reef wildlife to the mainland pet trade. The well-being of wildlife
should not be sacrificed for company profit.
These animal traffickers have exploited the public trust reefs here in
Hawaii) long enough and are responsible for the near extinction of
several species. Ask us who are out there daily how many cowfish,
blue -striped butterllyfish, red lionfish, harlequin shrimp, etc., etc,
we see these days and the answer is next to none. Stop this practice
before we become a dead zone and tourism stops because that will be a
reality ifour reefs die.
