My message to the Committee: '.. Aloha Chair Wille and AWES Committee Members,
Mahalo for the opportunity!
On January 24th at our annual meeting of the Puako Community
Association, the Board of Directors asked members their position on
Aquarium collecting. Of the approximately 50 persons present none
'.. indicated support for AQ collecting in any form. We therefore
strongly support legislation to ban the industry entirely. In the
meantime the PCA supports this bill to license collectors, collect
'.. fees, and insure low mortality in shipment.
I support Bill 24 regulating business that capture and sell Hawaii's
reefwildlife to the mainland pet trade. The well-being of wildlife
should not be sacrificed for company profit.
