PLEASE pass Resolution 22-14. The GMO bill was passed due to the immense community support and interest in preserving Hawaii county's environment and health. YOU as county council members have the power to uphold the wishes and concerns of your local community. YOU are the local authority, and should demand an appeal as part of that authority. Building and maintaining a STRONG and well REPRESENTED community is so important to the future of our county. The issue of GMOs has engaged the local community, and has raised a lot of issues. It has peaked the interest of many people that are otherwise un -interested in participating in democracy, thinking that their voices will not be heard. When the GMO bill was passed, and signed by Mayor Billy Kenoi, it was a beacon of hope. People realized that they actually DO have a voice, and a say on what goes on around them, in their home town, on their island. Please do not let that spirit of an engaged local society die at the hands of one Judge. Stand up for US- the people that have elected you to represent their needs. As a resident of Pauka'a, I am pleading for your support Mrs. Valerie Poindexter in this issue. It is very important to the people in your district and the entire county. Please demand an appeal. Strengthen the power of our local government to stand up against larger governments who do NOT have the true interests of US -the people in mind. Do NOT allow the state's pro -multinational corporation agenda to take over our island and tell us what is good for Hawaii County. The people have spoken. Please uphold their wishes. Mahalo for all of your hard work. You have an incredible responsibility to preserve the health and well-being of Hawaii county, and your efforts are greatly appreciated. Thank you and Aloha, Mallory and Lucas Brower Hilo, HI 96720 Comm. No.'L1.3V- Ref. To: CAP Ref. Dole UtL 1
