Ordinance 13-121
Dear County Council Members,
The Hawaii Farmers & Ranchers organization does not represent the majority of Hawaii farmers. Many farmers,
possibility the majority of Hawaii farmers stand with consumers who are concerned about GMO farming systems that
utilize higher amounts of herbicides than conventional farming systems and damage agriculture, cause weed resistance,
damage the environment, wildlifelf and humans. If Ordinance 13-121 is defeated I urge you to learn from this
experience and develop new legislation that controls the negative aspects of GMO farming systems. At the very least,
Hawaii county should begin working with other counties on A GMO resolution for a state wide plebiscite. The time has
come for all consumers to know what they are eating without interference from the GMO corporations, the farm lobby,
state and federal governments and the courts.
