RESOLUTION NO. 122 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KOKOLULU FARM &
CANCER RETREATS, INC.
WHEREAS, the Kokolulu Farm and Cancer Retreats, Inc. (KFCR) is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization that offers workshops and residential retreats to those in the community
affected by cancer and other chronic disease; and
WHEREAS, KFCR is an organic farm specializing in FAM — Food As Medicine; and
WHEREAS, KFCR is offering a three day medicineless healing workshop for the
community based on nutrition, stress management skills and Qigong exercises taught by a
resident Qigong Master from China; and
WHEREAS, participants will be better informed to make healthier food choices by
learning to take a more active role in their healing process, resulting in improved eating habits,
establishing an exercise routine, and an improved quality of life; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 willl be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to KFCR for a three day
workdshop offering these modalities will be open to the community at no charge; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research & Development and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
