Subject: Support Motion to Appeal Ruling that Invalidates Ordinance 13-121, GMO Crop Ban
Dear Councilors
Please support an Appeal of the Lower Court's decision that rejected Hawaii County's Home Rule ordinance 13-121 on
the cultivation of GMO crops/plants.
Local communities have the right to self governance without undue influence by billionaire corporations. Corporatism
has infected our Congress. Just this past weekend, a U.S. Government shutdown was threatened if taxpayers aren't on
the hook to bail out Citibank, etal., if losses become realized -privatized profits with socialized losses. Enough is enough.
The right thing for the County to do now is follow through with the law that our island community fought so hard to
pass. It's a government "of the people, by the people, for the people". Abraham Lincoln made no mention of
corporations.
