Dear Hawai'i County Council member,
I am writing to strongly encourage you to vote in favor of an appeal to the federal
judge's decision to overturn Hawaii County's GMO ban. The positive precedent that has
been established by the Hawai'i County Council's initial ruling to ban new GM crops on
Hawai'i Island is in the best long term interest of HawaiTs farmers and future food
security. If Hawaii is to make true strides in the direction of greater food self reliance,
while also growing our diversified farmer base, we need to explore ecological methods of
agricultural production, rather than creating reliance on highly technological ag
techniques.
