The decision of Judge Kurren was based on clear principles of preemption and any attempt to appeal the decision is likely to fail. I would urge the council to reject this and any other politically motivated effort to reverse this decision. These efforts will not measurably improve the lives of any resident of the county and will, in effect, only drain away precious resources that could be applied to resolving real problems - such as unrelenting property crime, rampant domestic violence and poor education opportunities. The Hawaii County Council is hardly the appropriate forum to argue philosophical issues. Your work as members of the council should be to advance the welfare of the people in this county. I would encourage you to stay focused on that task and get real about how important on a practical level the presence or absence of GMO actually is to the daily experience of our average citizens. Thank you for your time. c c David Schell ri DAVID SCHELL- 16-261 Shipman Road c^ n Kea'au, Al 96749 > -- comm. No. 2-1• M. Ref. To: CO L' Ref. Date DEC 17 2014
