This equipment was issued to, and utilized by, attendees of a training session provided by Fortinet to set up a wireless access point and connect it to the gateway provided. Subsequently, this equipment was donated to the attendees, one of which was a County employee from the Department of Information Technology. REQUEST: DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Information Techno Corev Stone DATE: 3/3/2015 PHONE: 808 - 323 -4355 The Donation came from Fortinet, they are a network appliance /software security system manufacturer, the County utilizes their equipment/software for our internet firewalls to the County network. The equipment was a FAP -221C wireless access point ($400) and a 60D Foritgate network router /switch ($1,600). The training was hands -on with the equipment to understand how to program /configure /utilize the Fortinet equipment and software that can be used for our County network. Fortinet is a worldwide provider of network security appliances and a market leader in unified threat management. Please accept this donation of new equipment valued at $2,000 for the County of Hawaii Information Technology Department from Fortinet B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Corey Stone attended a Fortinet conference in Honolulu on Wednesday, 2/25/2015. As part of the conference, a half -day training session on how to set up a wireless access point and connect it to the gateway was provided. The equipment used in the class was given to each student. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review.
