Subject: Accept Center for Food Safety and Earthjustice legal counsel free of charge
Aloha Kakou, Respected Representatives of Hawai'i nei. I have been a member of the Center for
Food Safety and Earthjustice for some years now. with full confidence in their advocacy,
competence, capacity, I urge the County Council to accept the offer of legal counsel from
Center for Food Safety and Earthjustice free of charge. Their expertise and winning track
record are unmatched in this field, and as a member of Hawaii Center for Food Safety (CFS),
I know CFS will be there every step of the way to support the County and its efforts to
protect the people and natural resources of Hawaii County. This is a historic case not only
because it denies the agrochemical industry a foothold in Hawaii County, but is critical to
preserving our home rule rights and local authority to address matters relating to the well-
being of our land and people.
