Please find my written testimony below in favor of GMO crop Ordinance 13-121. N
I could go on and on about the adverse health, cultural, and environmental effects of GMO crops but I believe that
these facts are well known and if not, I urge one to do their research before voting on such matters of high risk. I
moved to the Big Island in 2013 because it was a district that was taking action in doing the most honorable thing of
regulating the open air cultivation, propagation, development and testing of genetically engineered crops or plants.
I care deeply about the health of the people and the land and the incorporation of GMO crops is putting basic rights
of the healthy and free at risk. Agencies have no write to experiment with GMO crops at the risk of human and
nature well-being. The corporation of Monsanto has pushed the limits as to what acceptable business practices are
and the lack of responsibility for harming innocent individuals is appalling and inhumane.
Hawaii is one of the last beautiful and loving places I know to exist, the flourishing of culture and sustainability rests
in our ability as the people of this land to keep it sacred and honor the natural biodiversity that resides here, not
because it is profitable or political correct, but because it is the natural law.
The long term effects of GMO's are still to be undetermined and the one's at risk of having to deal with the blind
sided problems that will occur are our children. It is the Polynesian and Hawaiian way to look out for future
generations, passing GMO crop Ordinance 13-121 is a step in the right direction in living out everyone's kuliana.
From a place of deep humanness I ask you to not make a decision based on data and politics but rather do as our
ancestors did and follow the intuition of the land that we are inextricably linked to.
