Due to the high use for island-wide services by the Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, Arborist Advisory Committee and General Plan Revision Program, the 8 year old van no longer provides the necessary reliability and safety assurance for staff, committee members, or anyone else utilizing the vehicle. RE VEST: The Planning Department requests to establish a Motor Vehicle account and transfer into such account funds from Regulaz S&W. This action would allow us to purchase amini-van to replace the 1991 Ford Aerostar Van curcently utilized by the Department. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): At this time we would like to set up the necessary motor vehicle account utilizing funds from the Regulaz S&W account: From: Planning S&W Regulaz S&W 010-141-5141.01-011 $ 25,000.00 To: Planning Equip Motor Vehicle 010-141-5141.06-449 $ 25,000.00 Due to almost eight years of extremely high use for island-wide service to the Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, Arborist Advisory Committee and General Plan Revision Program, our current van consistently experiences equipment breakdown. It no longer provides the necessary reliability and safety assurance for staff, committee members or anyone else who uses the vehicle. In addition, we do not anticipate any additional vehicle purchase for several years. In order to purchase the van we will utilize a portion of a projected June 30, 1999 balance in our Regular Salaries & Wages account. Yamashiro FROM: ~wirginia Goldste~~/,~~ Planning Director SUBJECT: FY 1998-99 Equipment Purchase Request At this time we request approval to proceed with purchase of a mini-van to replace the 1991 Ford Aerostaz van currently utilized by the Department. Due to almost eight years of extremely high use for island-wide service to the Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, Arborist Advisory Committee and General Plan Revision Program, our current van consistently experiences equipment breakdown. It no longer provides the necessary reliability and safety assurance for staff, committee members or anyone else who uses the vehicle. In addition, we do not anticipate any additional vehicle purchase for several years. If approved, in order to purchase the van we will utilize a portion of a projected June 30, 1999 balance in our Regular Salaries & Wages account. By approving this memorandum and the additional attachment, we will work with the Finance Department, Budget and Purchasing Divisions to execute the purchase.
