REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY <br />AND MASS TRANSIT <br />DATE: March 17, 2015 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawai <br />TIME: 1:45 P.M. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Re: Comm. No. 155 <br />Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit, to which was Communication No. 155, reports as <br />follows: <br />Communication 155, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated February 18, 2015, requests review <br />and favorable recommendation of the nomination of Ms. Geraldine M. Giffin to the Hawaii County <br />Liquor Control Adjudication Board. <br />If confirmed, Ms. Giffin will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2019. Ms. Giffin replaces <br />Everette Souza, whose term expired effective December 31, 2014. <br />Ms. Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi, came forward and provided <br />background information on Nominee Giffin, expressed the Mayor's support, and requested Council's <br />favorable action of this appointment. <br />Committee Member Valerie Poindexter requested for Ms. Giffin to appear before the full Council for <br />confirmation. <br />Pursuant to Section 7-3.3, Hawaii County Charter, there is established a Liquor Control Adjudication <br />Board which shall consist of five members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. <br />Your committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and intent of <br />Communication No. 155, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Geraldine M.
