Re: Comm. No. 155
Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit, to which was Communication No. 155, reports as
follows:
Communication 155, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated February 18, 2015, requests review
and favorable recommendation of the nomination of Ms. Geraldine M. Giffin to the Hawaii County
Liquor Control Adjudication Board.
If confirmed, Ms. Giffin will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2019. Ms. Giffin replaces
Everette Souza, whose term expired effective December 31, 2014.
Ms. Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi, came forward and provided
background information on Nominee Giffin, expressed the Mayor's support, and requested Council's
favorable action of this appointment.
Committee Member Valerie Poindexter requested for Ms. Giffin to appear before the full Council for
confirmation.
Pursuant to Section 7-3.3, Hawaii County Charter, there is established a Liquor Control Adjudication
Board which shall consist of five members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Communication No. 155, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Geraldine M. Giffin
to the Hawaii County Liquor Control Adjudication Board.
