The County's Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) proposes to sell
real property in the Kamakoa Nui Workforce Housing Community at Waikoloa to
Habitat for Humanity, West Hawaii ("Habitat"). Kamakoa Nui was developed by the
County of Hawaii and is overseen by the OHCD. Habitat is a nonprofit organization
whose mission is to empower families, and to build community and hope through home
ownership for low income partner families. Since their founding in 2002, they have
successfully completed 24 new homes, 25 critical home repairs, helped with renovation
of the women's shelter, home repairs for seniors and many other successful projects.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Finance Director to negotiate the sale of real
property to Habitat for Humanity, West Hawaii, and to authorize the Mayor to execute
this sales agreement.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Susan Akiyama, Housing
Administrator at 961-8379.
