RESOLUTION NO. 1.61 15
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BIG ISLAND SPORTS
HALL OF FAME TO RELOCATE AND MAINTAIN THE HALL OF FAME DISPLAY.
WHEREAS, the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that was founded by Jack Matsui in the late 1990's to honor those who have positively impacted
the Big Island athletic community; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame display was located in the Prince Kuhio
Plaza and featured the photos and names of local legends that have contributed to promoting
sports and sportsmanship on Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame has requested funding to relocate and
maintain the Hall of Fame display that recognizes the honorees performance, integrity, character,
and contribution to sports; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame
to relocate and maintain the Hall of Fame display; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
