Reducing the trash going to our landfills is important for a number of major reasons: 1. Additional cost to taxpayers for additional landfills would be avoided 2. A large number of items in the landfills do not decompose, thus increasing the quantity of waste in the landfills 3. The decomposition of some items can contribute to potentially toxic and hazardous leakage into the ground and ground water 4. If more and more trash is added to the existing WHSL, there is a strong possibility of leakage from the landfill, not only leaking into the immediate ground , but possibly leaching and running, in time into local communities grounds and later to our ocean 5. Recyclables and composites can release toxic and hazardous gases into the environment. Of concern, more than State or EPA violations is the concern for the health of our community with these materials emitted into the air. G. Recyclables and composites can much better be used by our farmers and landscapers, with less cost to them and less toxic and hazardous trash at the at the landfills. Thank your for this opportunity to submit testimony in SUPPORT of Bill 32. Respectively, Mark Gordon Waikoloa, HI. comm. No. 199. 2 - Ref. Ref. Ta. Ref. Date ,VOR 3 1 201
