Subject: opposition to Bill 024
Dear Councilmembers,
I would like to express my opposition to Bill 024. 1 do not understand why a license to conduct an
aquarium life operation should cost $2000, and why there should be an additional cost of $1000 for
EACH of another five individual species listed in the bill. This seems like a completely random and
excessively high fee with no basis. There doesn't seem to be any rational explanation for it other than
to, once again, selectively aim unfair and unnecessary rules at the aquarium fish industry. There are
no other fisheries in the state that require such exorbitant licensing fees. This feels like a targeted
punishment of those already operating a legal aquarium life operation under all current laws
applicable to said operation.
This is an unnecessary and unfair bill. Please do not pass this bill.
Thank you very much for considering my comments.
