Comm. No. ,/U Ref. To: W $G t Ref. Date Vi 7 2015 - Name: Steve Word -- Ii -nail: smwta.hawait rr.cont City Kailua-Kona w State Hawaii _ YIv message to the Committee: r Aloha Chair Wille and Committee Members, '. I his is a good start, but does not go far enough. I've been a . resident for over 30 years, a NAUI Advanced diver since 1984, and there are defnitely less fish on the reefs now. I ant amazed that with the economic contribution of the variety of dive shops, snorkel cruises, manta ray adventures, and ocean based activities that we allow ANY taking of fish off tlm reefs. In this day and age of instant information, all that is required for a tourism disaster is for the PERCEPTION of a lack of life on the reefs to become fixed in people's minds, and they will choose to go elsewhere. I support Bill 318 protecting hawaii s reef wildlife from harmful aquarium trade starvation and insufficient water volume during shipping. I would prefer to see a total ban on the taking of fish for aquariums on the mainland, and hope you will one day realize how important more complete protection is. Mahalo for allowing my testimony. Steve ward Mahalo for the opportunity! Comm. No. ,/U Ref. To: W $G t Ref. Date Vi 7 2015
