Dear Hawaii County Council,
I am writing a5 a small-business o•::!r_c co express my STRONG opposition
to Hill 280, Article 1, which would liRtz the sine of real estate signs,
among other signs, to a maxirr.um of 3.? square feet.
Virtually all Realtors order the _r "r'or Sale signs from the Nainlsnd,
where there are 3 principal suppliers. ['ce just looked through all of
their catalogues, and ALL of them offs: 3 sign and name-rider package
cahich is 4 square feet. None of them offer any Citing smaller. THESE SI'h ES
ARE STANDARDIZED THROUGHOUT TH' COUDiTitY.
If this bill passes and s:e are r>ouired ro abide by it, I don't kno<<•
where we could even get the signs; a11. Ch~~ frames would have to be custom
made. In my opinion, this is absolut =bsurd. I normally keep 51,200.00 to
$1,500.00 worth of signs and framzs on hand at any one time. All of these
would become completely useless. I don'.: t;atu to even guess whaC replac-
ing them with custom units would cost.
Small businesspeople on this islti: face more than enough obstacles
to survival without mindless nonsense 1'.6~ this to deal with. If every
other County in the United States cat: Jie,a ~:~i[h 4sf signs, the County of
Hawaii should be able to as well.
