Dear County Council Finance Committee Members.
We understand you are considering change order r,quests relative to the road
construction project in Waimea. We believe the ~~yuests are reasonable and we also
understand that the Federal Highways Admin ha° already approved 80% share of these
expenses.
The road improvement in Waimea affects all of us on the Big Island including our
already ailing tourist industry Visitors do not fmd Waimea an inviting place to visit at
this point in time.
delay is unacceptable- The construction impacts us in many ways including serious
Financial setbacks for businesses along the area aft~ectzd, hazardous driving conditions,
not to mention the simple frushation experienced by drivers attempting to travel the area
in a timely fashion_ We have all been victims of delays lasting up to an hour.
We urge that you approve these change orders
