Subject: Request for Sigh Variance
Dear Sir:
'Ihe developers of Kohanaiki Business Park, Kamaaira. Eight Partners I.L.C,
requests a variance for the^s subdivision silntage from fire standards set forth in Chagter 3
of the I3awaii County Cocie. This request for vatiaxtce is being made on Section 3-25 to
allow for more than one sign to front onto any street and on Section 3-30 to allow for a
sign latter than eight sgtuu~e feet.

Highway which has a posted 45 mph speed Lieut. Iyroject signage along this highway needs
to be or.;;ntcd towards approaching velricles and si::ed large enough to allow people an
opportunity to read it while traveling at a Iti}~t rate of speed. '.The signage for this project
proposes to mcattt cut-out letters spelling out Ute xtante, "IC7HANAII{I" onto Lhe faces of
two-four foot high rock walls located one each on either side of the entry road. These
sigrtage walls will be oriented each that oxte wo~:ld Lace southward onto Queen
Ka'ahumansr liglaway and the other would face northevard. Bath These signage walls are
