RE: Bill No. 43, Draft 2, Amending Chapter 2, Article 25 of the Hawaii County Code
Relating to the Establishment of Funding Available to Non-Profit Organizations
Please find attached Bill No. 43, Draft 2, Amending Chapter 2, Article 25 of the Hawaii County
Code Relating to the Establishment of Funding Available to Non-Profit Organizations.
Originally, Bill No. 43 set the formula for Non-Profit funding at one percent of real property tax
revenues. The bill eliminated any reference to $900,000 as a minimum amount.
Bill No. 43 was amended at the March 16, 1999 meeting of the Committee on Human Services &
Economic Development. Bill No. 43, Draft 2, establishes that at least $900,000 is available for
grants to non-profit agencies each fiscal year. It also removes the provision that states that the
maximum amount to be made available For grants shall not exceed one percent of real property
tax income.
