Dear Mr. Arakaki and All Council Members:
I have played the Saxophone since 6th grade. I have taken
private lessons and now I am 1st Chair in the school band. I am
proud of that. I have played in front of the whole school with Ms.
Juan in a duet and I am proud to have had that opportunity. I
have been invited to play in the county band next year. If you
decide to cut the funds for the county band I will have nothing to
look forward to. I have worked for 3 years towards this goal. I
dream of teaching music someday and sharing the gift with
others. We are what we produce as a culture and music has
defined cultures since the beginning. If you cut the band, my
heart will be broken and I might have to consider moving to a
community that provides more opportunities for me musically.
