County Council
Council Members,
In view of tY.e reported county hudget shortfall. and the possible
affect that this could h~.ve on the Prosecuting Attorney's office
and the Police Dept., I have become very concerned. The Prose-
cuting Attorney's office presaritly has an unreasonable back-log,
and the Police llept. Sn our district of Ka'u presently has only
2 officers on duty at any given time to cover an area larger
than the island of Maui. Any reduction in funding for tY:ese
departments will have a serious detrimental affect on civilian
sai'ety -_znd due process of law.
I urge you to approve full fundinE for the Prosecuting Attorney's
and the Police Dept. at the budget he,ming to be held on Naar. 30.
