Chairman, Councilman, Councilwoman:
My name is Ellen Curry. I am a member of the Upper Piihonua Kumiai. I have
volunteer ed my services because there have been an enormous amount of crime, cars dealing
with drugs at all hours of the night and day, trash dumping and Graffiti at the School (Headstart),•
a home and the Bridges and road.
Recently, just this past weekend, between Saturday night and Sunday morning, there .
was a 2"d Breakin at our Community Hall. There were 3 or 4 louvers removed, small enough
only for a child to crawl in, then, the,back door was opened to remove beer. Who would
use a child to steal??? We must be alert and vigil always. The louvers were thrown further down
neaz Akolea road and broken into pieces. This is where the County workers pazk the
grader used in expanding and cleazing the grass along the road Creating a hazard for anyong
who pazks in the azea. This may seem like a small incident, but it is ongoing and must be stopped.
We, on this Island, aze also faced with the possibility of a Prison. Will our men and, .
women power to maintain this prison.be adequate?? Certainly we need the Police Department
and Prosecuting Attorneys office with higltqualified trained Men and Women. The personnel
to protect our Island should be maintained now and in the immediate future, not one or two years
from now. If this help from them is diminished with the Budget cut, the Safety of our community
will diminish.

I respectfully request that these two offices receive-their Budget requested for this fiscal
yeaz, for they know the urgent need in maintaining a Safe Community.
