Dear Chair Arakaki and Council Members:
I am writing you as on behalf of the West Hawaii County Band Friends. As a
Board member and as a resident of West Hawaii, I humbly request that you retain the
necessary funding to support the West Hawaii County Band.
Bands play an important role in all of our communities, providing music for social
gatherings, ceremonies and parades, state and national holidays. They become an
important part of the `soul' of the community and add to our memories of those special
events that brought together friends and neighbors in celebration.
Both in my capacity as a State Representative and as the head of a household of
five, I understand completely how difficult it can be to stretch a dollar and to juggle
finances. I understand the challenges you face, but I sincerely hope that you will strongly
consider leaving in tact funding for the West Hawaii County Band.
Id
Sincerely,
Representative Paul Whalen - Kona
