RE: Bill No. 45, Mayor's Amended Proposed Budget
Dear Chairman Arakaki
and Members of the Council:
I would like to commend the County of Hawaii for their continued financial
support of recycling programs, and express the endorsement of the Department of
Business, Economic Development, and Tourism for the revised proposed budget which

economic benefits of recycling. We continue, through our Clean Hawaii Center, to support
Big Island businesses who divert recyclables from the waste stream and manufacture

materials entering landfills, but creates jobs and revenues.
Your continued support of recycling via diversion grants for paper, plastic,
greenwaste and other materials, support for hazardous waste collection, and educational
