The band is a very important part of life here in Kona and the environs. They gwe much pleasure to all of us in parades, fairs,and concerts. Many members are uolunteers and are deuoted to the band. If this does happen, the Big Island community will undoubtedly be deprived of something a great many of us extremely enjoy: Good Music! Appreciation of the aesthetic things in life is very much alive, as indi- cated by well -attended concerts of the Hawaii County Band. The announcement was made at the Band's Valentine's Day Cocnert last February 13, 1999 at the Mooheau Bandstand. Together with many, many others I have been the beneficiary of the beautiful music the Hawaii County Band has provided the Big Island community. I know I express the sentiments of a large number of our citizens who urgently request you to see to it that the Band is able to continue to perform.
