We are pleased to present to you the Hawaii Fire Department's
operating budget for FY 1999-2000. Our Department's primary
goals and objectives were detailed in the Budget and Program
Review Questionnaire which was submitted to you on or about
March 10, 1999. I am willing to answer any questions you may
have about these issues as well.
The total budget shows a decrease of .85% over the current year.
There are no significant changes in the Salaries and Wages
account due to the on-going contract negotiations. The current
Unit 11 contract runs from July, 1997, to June, 1999.
The equipment budget for the Fire Protection account has been
decreased significantly. If necessary, the Department will look
into repairs on present equipment.
In short, this budget is conservative and if funds do become
available, we are prepared to make adjustments which will be a
great value in continuing service to our community.
