Dear Ch~iirman Arakaki and County Counci] Members,
The I{uakini Alakai Bomcowmers Association is unnoscd to Bill_SU as drafted.
The zoning designation in Bill SO drafr 4 (RS 7,5) must be changed and reflex exaedy what the
devoloper-applicant has proposed. The 981ots consisting of 1 acre and one halt acre parcels, should be
zoned ]iS 1.0 and RS .5 respectively. This will ensure that the C C & it's will not De modified or
changed to allow for a higher density.
Any future subdi~zdmg of lots would add additional and unplanned impact to this region ~~nd
neighborhood. Again, to ensure future compliance with this project as proposed, a zoning
modification to match fire development. equals common sense and goad planning.
Count cil ust stand fi sn Innn holes in nronosed nrniccts without exception! Alsg
aside frt~m the auestinn of zonine, thtre are several other issues in this proiect which have vet to ~
res v d;,Thoac critical issues are traffic circulation. mauka - makai roads and public safety.
After lis~tnittg to the taped TV rebroadcast of the Count} Council Hefting, 1 was amazed at the lath. of
insensitivity to the wishes of this community. An additional entrance and erit into this project rel7vcts
smart planning in a 100+ acre project within an urban area Either provide ft mauka-maltai roam at
the northern boundary or provide a right tttrn in & out of this project at the Alii Parkway or both.
This developer has continuously been requesting conccssiona from the County. The developer must
install at deceleration right turn lane and a left turn storage lane identical to the ICUakini A4alsai
entrance and be constructed and completed during the first siz month of construction N0T ai'ter
phase I is sold out, We also request that Papnln Street not be connected or used as a through sheet
into a private gated community.
As an eight year resident of the Kuakini Makai subdivision, whidt is ;rdjacent to this proposed projaa, l
am opposod to the passage of Bill S0. The Homeowner's Association is prepared to take whatever actions
azo required to protect the integrity of our ntighborhood. Again. I strnnely uree you to consider the
~lar' ,die
ecty in Bi1150 and Vote "No" on July 8,_1999.
Sincerely,
Martin M. Ohan • President, Kuakini Makai Association
