RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION
OF EQUIPMENT TO THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, The Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation donating one (1) winch,
two (2) all -terrain vehicles with trailers, one (1) public announcement system,
payment for a Swiftwater Training Rescue course, and one (1) high pressure
firefighting pump; and
WHEREAS, this equipment and training, with a combined value of $55,472.47
will be utilized by the Hawai'i Fire Department's Ocean Safety and Fire Protection
programs; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai'i County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, Hawai'i Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai'i County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawai'i accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to the Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 1285, Kailua-
Kona, HI 96745, acknowledging this generous donation.
