RE: Request to authorize the use of special counsel to advise the Hawaii County Board
of Ethics in matters relating to Petitions 2015-03 and 201408
Dear Chair Kanuha,
Pursuant to Section 6-5.5, Hawai'i County Charter (2012), the Office of the Corporation
Counsel respectfully requests this communication be agendized for the May 6, 2015, meeting of
the Hawai'i County Council,
The Office of the Corporation Counsel seeks Council approval to use the services of one
or more attorneys from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, County of Maui, to advise
the Hawai'i County Board of Ethics in the above referenced matters due to potential conflicts of
interest for our office.
These services would be provided at no cost other than those associated with travel to
attend the Board of Ethics' meeting(s) and other incidental expenses.
We further request an executive session to discuss this matter.
