This week the County Council will be considering bill 50 regarding the
SCD Kahakai development plan for 120 homes in North Kona. This plan
offers no Mauka Makai connection to the proposed Alii Parkway or the
existing lower roadway.
As you know the lack of existing Mauka Makai connections in this area is
a serious public concern and safety hazard. For that reason adding these
connectors has been a major stated planning and transportation goal of
county. This proposed development plan is in glaring and direct conflict
with the county goal.
The plan would have a large and long term negative impact on our area.
The citizens of this community expect the county council to deny approval
of bill 50.
