development'
1 raffic congestion Is but one concern. Kailua-Kona does not have the
infrastructure to allo\v for a safe evacuation incase of natural disaster such as
tsunami or volcanic eruption. We note that this need is so pressing that the federal
Emergency Management Agency has released $500,000 for planning to reduce the
impact of natural disasters. Allowing SCD Kahakai to do the right thing and stick to
the plan to build a mauka makai through their development is a giant step toward
hazard mitigation, and a more effective (and critically needed) roadway system.
Please, cast a vote that reflects the needs and desires of the people whose
lives are most affected by your decisions.
