White-, E. T. Anderson-, Donald K. Grubbs- f Author Affiliations . ABSTRACT , ma Chamber A deep geothermal well in California has tapped a very saline brine extraordinarily high in heavy metals and other rare elements; copper and silver are precipitated during brine production. Preliminary evidence suggests that the brine may be pure magmatic water and an active ore -forming solution. Metamorphism of relatively young rocks may also be occurring within accessible depths. 4 October 2005, ' . • ORMAT-PGV drilled into a r • ♦r :'... fes• , , `?1 MAGMA CHAMBER ' ^ ' ~ Jill, ► t • wsr + . •• - ` Tribune f Herald - 1 ' 9 ="" •--- Ma9me Oi¢ayercdNlla'Nmum Habitat Far Finl Tjme •q,a.,mraoe.qunravm mvrmq mt s..mn March 28' 2015 Scientists disclose 2005 drill into Big Isle ,.r a<.m,...,.....m..a..,er... magma chamber Y°•'m`0°"""`"°" MAKES NEW SPLASH, fi pLD LAMA Her ,m.•m•..a.. .m - Ir rib iggita f $1 U 20 o FALI M-1 15 Hl Rw - 6 I Thr Uahingtan Jost alMnln Xapgf me'Mapna:i,..em -rill— break into magma chamber wwanioma. ,awe NAEONALGEOGRANUOM .. »wuK ,.. •rteooixsalrmaam•:oaiera yam eerm ,...a.mrn ffiIMe aapnarz ,. n v.+. •+eaa n,oa re ..e.,,nosa . iencey 0 M 11n wT11 .To In 2006, Lawrence Livermore developed a technology extracting silica and other minerals from geothermal fj L ON Silicon Wafers MUM I r made to order Sizes match those of commercially useful silica Geothermal contains silica which tanks and pipes ,F, 1 A J S t • •Ulbto qlaial e%hasas i 0 Adw s h jrj I, w AF 4 It L1 JLI Gold, Silver and Other Metals inScale!iL Puna Geothermal Venture, Hawaii 008 • 1 00 AW ' ! • - "Recent analyses of scale collected from the surface equipment at PGV yielded... grade gold, silver, copper, zinc, lead and multi -elements... pipes that resulted in approximately 24,000 pounds of scale.... 17.2 oz. gold of highest quality " Geothermal fluid flow 1,000,000 Ib per hour containing 70% brine over a two-year period flows a total of about 6,132,000 tons of brine ... 38 oz. gold " Sample Rock Tvve Location Hawai'i silica 67.33% pure KS -13 Dacite 2 844 m dacite glass PGV Chilean oceanic ridge dacite 45.9198°S, 75.9148°W Spreading center, S. Magnesium (moderately high) however there is also uranium present at 0.16% - this is a curiously high concentration. we would focus first on the lithium as this is the most valuable but other chemical compounds may also be recovered for sale. We also need to know how much of this steam is being generated and for how long it will be available. You must orally inform us of all accidents that affect operations or create environmental hazards within 24 hours of the accident. When you contact us, we may require you to submit a written report fully describing the incident. Mr Tanaka from the Bureau of Land Management stated that he was present and witnessed the magma incident at the Ormat-PGV plant in October of 2005. Mr. Tanaka stated that Ormat-PGV was not required to make an accident report because it was not an accident as Ormat was intentionally trying to hit a magma chamber.
