Subject: Res. 126-15, D2 - In Support
Aloha Council Chair Kanuha and Council Members,
Please approve Res. 126-15, D2: Authorizes Payment re: Contract for Organic Waste Operations for Environmental
Management.
The closer and faster we can get to Zero Waste, the better!
Although Hawaii and Kauai (some powers not on board though) are serious about Zero Waste (and Maui
is working on
it), it seems the powers that
be in Oahu are more interested in waste to energy power. I'm referring
to SB 1047, SDI, HD3 authorizing the issuance of special purpose revenue bonds to assist Pelatron Q LLC.
There was a
conference committee meeting Friday May 1st, we don't know what happened.
We first became aware of this bill when we read the following alarming
information:

Waste is a resource! Reduce, ReUse and Recycle!
