COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 192 1a - <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A <br />MONETARY DONATION OF $17,586.55 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT <br />WHEREAS, the Honorable Masamichi Miyawaki, Mayor of the Yurihama <br />Prefecture of Japan, on behalf of his government, is donating $17,586.55 to the <br />Department of Research and Development; and <br />WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the benefit of the residents of <br />Lower Puna who were affected by the June 27th lava flow; and <br />WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter <br />provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of <br />money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real <br />estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code <br />states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which <br />fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be <br />accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that <br />cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal <br />Resolution process; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development recommends <br />the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore, <br />
