RESOLUTION NO. 192 1a -
STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
MONETARY DONATION OF $17,586.55 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the Honorable Masamichi Miyawaki, Mayor of the Yurihama
Prefecture of Japan, on behalf of his government, is donating $17,586.55 to the
Department of Research and Development; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the benefit of the residents of
Lower Puna who were affected by the June 27th lava flow; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real
estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code
states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which
fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be
accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that
cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal
Resolution process; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development recommends
the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai'i County Code, the Council of
the County of Hawai'i accepts this donation.
