Subject: Testimony AGAINST continued use of ROUND UP by Hawaii County
Aloha to all Council Members,
1 am writing with a submission of testimony against the continued use of Round Up by Hawaii County.
Round Up is a Monsanto produced pesticide with a long and documented list of side effects to the
environment, and documented harm to the health of humans in contact with it.
In addition, as someone with a business in the downtown area, I am appalled that the approach to
'landscaping' is to spray edges with round up which leaves an unsightly brown 'scorch mark' on al the
curb sides through town. This looks very unappealing and flags to residents and visitors alike that no
care is taken here for beauty.
I submit here a proposal that our Parks and Rec and Highways Division use border plantings instead which will
flourish most parts of the year, add color and provide 'curb appeal.'
