Council Testimony
Subject:
Toxic Spray
Aloha Dear Council Members,
Thanks for being there and doing what you are doing!
We have a special needs child attending a public pre -K program at our local school. He has extreme (meaning
EXTREME) allergies, asthma and sensitivities to toxic chemicals, air pollution, dust, etc. We are amazed and
disheartened to see poison sprayed on roads near the school, in the rain and wind no less, by county workers
with no protective gear (go figure). As a farmer myself, I completely understand the relative ease of dealing
with invasives by spraying toxics, but we feel the county is overdoing it. 'There must be alternatives to
Roundup, etc. that are a good compromise. Are you aware that numerous countries have actually banned the use
of Roundup, etc? I hope you will very carefully reconsider the county's use of these products and ask that
different approaches be used. There simply must be a better, safer way. Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
John and Susanne Lyle
