Stop Round -up in Hawaii
Dear Council,
Please remove county funding and purchases of RoundUp/glyphosate and neon icotinoids from the budget and stop county use of these
chemicals immediately and permanently.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer, the specialised cancer agency of the World Health Organisation, asked a group of
experts to spend a year examining the data from peer-reviewed studies about glyphosate. The research found that the herbicide, along
with two other insecticides, was classified as "probably carcinogenic to humans" — a description used when there is limited evidence of
cancer-causing effects on humans, yet sufficient evidence of it in animals. We should use the Pre -cautionary Pnnople & ban
RountlUp/glyphosate here.
There are non toxic alternatives to weed control. Vinegarlacetic acid works great on many weeds and is working well in other parts of
the country and world as alternative to Roundup. We the residents of Hawaii County and visitors to Hawaii County, ask that you make
this necessary change.
