By continuing the funding for a program to educate the high school population on teen
dating violence, this bill will help to decrease the amount of teen dating violence, and

increase awareness about teen dating violence, and provide resources to teens about

where to go if they or someone they know is experiencing teen dating violence.

This year, we will be starting a pilot program at Walakea High School. We will be providing

the Teen Dating Violence Curriculum: "SAFE DATES" to all 91h graders in their PE and
Health lasses.

"SAFE DATES" will be doing training in Hilo for the PE and Health teachers as well as for
the instructors. In all, 30 teachers will be trained on the curriculum, and we will have 30

Instructors and teachers being trained to be trainers.

There is a critical need for high school students to understand teen dating violence, and
how to create safety plans for themselves statewide.

Approval of this $8000.00 appropriation will Improve the relationships that teens have for
thousands of high school students, and will provide students with awareness and

resources, that will help them to build healthier relationships. Thank you for your
